Thank you, folks. I am so happy with the results.

As for a Mystic Portugal...well, most definitely! Give me time.

Best wishes,

Hi Branden - I've just been catching up on your Egyptian Journey. It sounds like it was as much a pilgrimage as anything else.

Your photos, as always, are absolutely stunning. I particularly love the portraits of bedouins and traders. How do you get them? Do you just say "excuse me, can I take your photo?" or are these people you have talked to for a while first and then asked?

Hi Kim!

Yes, visiting Egypt was an extraordinary time for me.

As for taking photographs of people, I found Egypt to be one of the hardest places to get permission. I always respect people's privacy, so "excuse me, can I take your photo?" is obligatory.

Some people request "baksheesh" for a picture, which is something that I do not want to encourage, but may well be necessary for a cracking shot. I think the Shoe Shiner was absolutely worth it.

Sometimes, people are just overjoyed to have a photograph taken and almost bully you into doing so.

Background is as important to the photographs as the subjects' faces. It all has to fit into the frame to produce that little magic. It's partly conscious, and mostly intuitive.

Best wishes,

El-Branden
