As for whether we must suffer the bad as well as the good: How can we appreciate what is good, without having experienced some of the bad. Happy-go-lucky people are never imbued with much insight.

I read yesterday, that the Chinese character for 'disaster', also stands for 'new beginning'. Out of the bad, can come good.
